Payments
Genie's Payment Functionality
The Payments Setting covers all payments on Genie, so we recommend keeping it 'on'.
Take Payment
Enables the Payment functionality of Genie. We recommend keeping this on as well.
If disabled, you will still be able to Manage Payments (Refunds, Reversals etc.), but you won't be able to accept Card or Cash Payments.
Cash Payments
Use Genie to manage Cash Payments
If Cash Payments is 'on', when you're taking a payment, you'll see a 'pay by cash' button alongside the 'pay by card' button.
This feature is useful for businesses that take cash & card, and want consolidated transaction reporting.
If you don't take cash, you can simply toggle this 'off'.
Float Balance
Only Applies if Cash Payments is Enabled
Your Float Balance lets you set how much physical cash you keep in your till overnight/at the End of Day.
As with Cash Payments, this allows for more consolidated reporting in Lamp.
Card Payments
Card & Contactless Payments
This the main function of Genie. Enabling this, allows you to take card payments on your device!
Gratuity
Gratuity, or Tipping
If enabled, as part of the payment journey on Genie, you will be asked if the customer would like to leave a tip.
These tips are reported back in Lamp for full compliance with the latest Government Legislation.

Split Bill
Different Ways to Pay the Total Bill
Sometimes (particularly in hospitality), there's a situation where when a customer comes to pay, they don't want to settle the full amount.
With Split Bill enabled, as part of the Payment user journey on Genie, you will see an option to either split the bill equally by the number of customers, or for each person to pay a set amount.
Servers
Servers/Waiting Staff
Servers forces a user to select the staff member that is taking payment before they do so, to help with reporting.
This feature also works well with Gratuity, as it will give you a breakdown of each staff member's tips, for compliance with the Tipping Legislation that came into force October 2024.

Email Receipts
Does the Customer Want an Email Receipt
With this feature enabled, you can email a receipt to customers.
Preset Payments
A Unique Feature of the Genie
Preset Payments lets you pre-define payment amounts for customers to pay.
This has use-cases in Charity/Fundraising, and Hospitality for Gratuity.

These amounts can be customised anytime in Lamp.
Pay By Link
Send Secure Payment Links
Pay By Link lets you send secure payment links to customers for them to pay at their own convenience. Customers will be setup as contacts so you can send them new links faster. You can track the status of these links in Lamp whenever you like.

Quick Link
Send a Payment Link Without Creating a Contact
Quick Link lets you send secure payment links to customers, without creating a contact. It's Pay By Link, but quicker!
For Quick Link to show as an option, you will have to have Pay By Link Enabled

This feature lets you take a payment when the customer is not physically present.
Manage Payments
Everything Except Incoming Payments
Manage Payments is where you can find the nitty-gritty of your Payment operation.
Here, you can:
- Refund
- Reverse the previous transaction
- Reverse the last transaction by it's Unique Transaction Identifier (UTI)
- Pre-Authorise a payment by holding money on an account
- Completion; Complete the pre-authorisation as above
- Query Transaction; Check the details of a previous transaction.
Immediate Till
Useful for Fast-Paced Payment Environments
Immediate Till streamlines Genie into a Payments Powerhouse.
With this feature enabled, Genie's user flow will loop in the 'Take Payment' cycle, so you can focus on taking payments.
